JERBO - JERBOA, A JUMPING MOUSE

jerbo, Eng jerboa, jumping mouse, a rodent the size of a rat living in the desert of Africa, known for its jumping ability.  It does not drink water but obtains moisture from foods. Avenzoar explains that it is hot and dry. It generates warmth and dryness which is useful nutrition for human consumption. It should not be forgotten that rodents were eaten in the Middle Ages.
